Stephenson College: Biomass, Solar and micro/mini Combined Heat and Power
Specialist Advisor: Patrick Maxwell
From a plumbing and electrical installation background, I started working in education in 2004. I have since been employed by Stephenson College in North West Leicestershire, and for the last 5 years been developing renewable energy within the College. This was formalised in 2007, when the College opened it New Technology Centre. This was a first for any College in the UK. My teaching experience has involved teaching the installers and staff of many major UK manufacturers in renewable energy heating and design. I also deliver train the trainer courses for British Plumbing Employers Council in New Technology training for other college staff from around the UK. I have developed many New Technologies and training materials for solar hot water and space heating in domestic, and industrial, woody biomass, underfloor heating, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps, grey water recycling, and rainwater harvesting
As Specialist Advisor for the Construction Innovation and Sustainability project, my role is to focus on Biomass, Solar and micro/mini Combined Heat and Power at Stephenson College. With working on installations and designing them, visiting sites, advising employers, attending workshops and exhibitions I am well placed to help employers in the East Midlands for any questions or advice that they need. I will also be developing more training material to share within our network.
