Panel Technology is Motoring With £35K Technology Investment

A Leicestershire specialist component manufacturer for the automotive industry has invested £35,000 in the latest laser scanning equipment to increase its efficiency and remain competitive.
Panel Technology, in Hinckley, has worked with an impressive range of customers over the last 44 years, including Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover, and is accredited to the highest automotive quality standards. This latest investment in technology has allowed the company to cut component inspection times by around 75% as well as reverse engineer components without relying on drawings.
The investment was made possible with a grant from East Midlands New Technology Initiative (NTI).
Andy Payne, managing director at Panel Technology Ltd, says: “We are an engineering led company, and to survive and prosper in the current market place we need to invest in technologies that allow us to reduce costs and add value to our product and service offering. The NTI grant has helped make this possible.”
James Powell, project manager, NTI High Performance Network added: “Andy identified the laser scanning technology as a must for enhancing inspection capability. The flexibility of the laser scan arm compared to traditional co-ordinate measuring systems means that it can be utilised on different applications throughout the business, ranging from inspection of new panels to checking of tooling, such as early signs of press tool wear. The technology is clearly having impact on the business reducing times and importantly costs. It will help Panel Technology stay ahead of their competitors.”
