MOT Bay Improves Prospects at Local Garage

CX Automotive, a small local garage business in Ripley, Derbyshire, which provides vehicle repair and maintenance services, has invested in a new MOT bay to increase its turnover and future success.
The garage received a £10,000 grant to help fund the MOT bay installation at its premises from East Midlands New Technology Initiative (NTI). The new bay will improve workshop planning times and attract further custom and repair work, increasing turnover and the long term security of the business.
Colin Bunn runs CX Automotive. He says: “I was very impressed with the NTI grant system. I was introduced to them through a colleague, who knew of a company in the Mansfield area that had been helped by the NTI. I would and have recommended the NTI to other businesses in this area and feel that investment in training and technology is vital to small businesses at this very difficult time.”
CX Automotive worked with James Powell, project manager for NTI’s High Performance Network to get the grant they needed. James Powell added: “Colin identified a shortage in MOT testing stations local to the Ripley area and decided to establish his own testing bay at CX Automotive. The bay is the latest “one man” testing lane which eliminates the need for two staff to be tied up testing a vehicle at the same time. Having the technology in place will certainly increase turnover and efficiency at the garage with MOTs now being carried out in-house. Colin made a strong business case for NTI support and it was great to be able to assist him in developing the business.”
