Food & Drink Centres of Knowledge Exchange

The Food and Drink Centre for Knowledge Exchange has been highly successful, due to the close working relationship developed between the partners, for example sharing equipment and expertise in dealing with company trials. This fully encapsulates the collaborative ethos of the CKE. A joint Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) has also been approved recently.

Four new courses on Food Legislation are available as CPD activities and accredited by a professional body and are scheduled to be converted to MSc modules. A new Foundation and Honours degree is being developed at Nottingham Trent University in response to demand from the Trading Standards Institute.

The CKE has had particular success by working with employers on technical trials and consultancy support for technical processes.

At Nottingham Trent University we are aiming for cross-College activity (adding specialisms in nutrition, food authenticity and food borne pathogens) and inter-College activity (environmental health and health promotion) to broaden the scope of support to the Food and Drink sector.

The University of Lincoln is planning a phase 2 building development (at the request of a consortium of employers) subject to successful funding bids. This would greatly enhance the capacity of future CKE activity by offering a wider range of technically advanced equipment.
