NTI builds awareness of sustainable construction techniques.
21/10/2009
The East Midlands NTI showcased their Innovation in Sustainable Construction scheme at the recent Expo exhibition at Leicester’s Walkers Stadium giving businesses an insight into the ground breaking project.
Representatives of the six partners – Chesterfield College, West Nottinghamshire College, Derby College, Lincoln College, Stephenson College and Leicester College – enthused to visitors about the strides being made in boosting the use of energy efficient technology.
A two week roadshow of ten events is now being planned for February 2010 in response to the level of visitor’s interest.
Innovation in Sustainable Construction provides a local source of specialised knowledge for businesses to access. Each project member has employed a specialist advisor who will research what innovative components are available in their specific sector, raise awareness and offer expert advice to design and construction businesses on how such components might assist in meeting Government targets in improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
East Midlands NTI Project Manager, Professor Roy Morledge said: “The stands were busy with people wanting to find out more about the scheme and how it can help their business. There is a wealth of easy to install energy efficient technology on the market. Our challenge is to make that information easily accessible and to encourage builders, architects and specifiers to incorporate the products into their schemes.”
