New technology saves employers time and money

Over 250 students from Moulton College’s construction courses are benefiting from an investment of over £4,000 in state of the art surveying equipment.
Students can now be fully trained on the very latest equipment such as laser levels and theodolites, ensuring they are ready to work from day one - saving employers precious time and training budget.
Two students who have already benefited from the new measuring equipment are Peter Hutorka, studying part-time for a BSc in Construction Management, and Christopher Kennedy, who recently graduated with a National Diploma in Construction at Moulton College.
The Northamptonshire College is able to benefit from funding support as part of the East Midlands New Technology (NTI) Network of colleges and universities. Moulton College has an unrivalled reputation for excellence in training for the construction industry.
Christopher says, “Moulton College’s range of facilities and equipment is excellent. The surveying equipment in particular has helped me to adopt new skills which have easily been adapted for my new employment at a surveying company where the same standard of equipment is used.”
Tim Englefield, Head of Construction Faculty at Moulton College added: “I am delighted that Moulton is a member of NTI, not only for the benefits of the new equipment, but also for the opportunities to work together with other representatives from the construction industries.”
East Midlands NTI is an initiative backed by leading universities and colleges, to help small businesses invest in state of the art technology. It is funded by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
