East Midlands NTI
Centres for Knowledge Exchange

The East Midlands NTI Centre for Knowledge Exchange (CKE) is a consortium of four universities. De Montfort University and the University of Derby form the Creative Industries Network, with Nottingham Trent University and University of Lincoln as the Food & Drink Network.  The consortium is led by De Montfort University and managed by East Midlands NTI Limited.

The Centre for Knowledge Exchange has swiftly and successfully developed relationships with employers to a high level. The CKE has been built upon the success of the NTI. The ‘exchange of knowledge’ can be seen across all four participating universities, and is recognised across the East Midlands region and beyond.

Although different in focus there is significant joint working between the two CKEs. We will build on the work already achieved, and whilst the detailed delivery will differ between Food & Drink and Creative Industries, the essential processes will be common to both.  Specifically, we aim to:

  • Build activity to broaden the scope of support offered
  • Increase support to small and medium sized businesses and facilitate a knowledge transfer between them and participating universities.
  • Ensure that all parties share in the whole experience of knowledge transfer to their mutual benefit.
  • Promote the findings of the Cox report, specifically by piloting creative industries methodologies in the Food & Drink industry including incubation activities and development of a research centre common to both
  • Continue student professional practice, staff professional practice, visits to other centres to gather knowledge for exchange
