Catapulting Kids Further! - Phase 2 grant funding

The Phase 2 grant funding pot of £1.682m has been allocated to schools and SMEs for teaching the applied and/or vocational learning for 14 – 19 year olds, in order to enable them to buy equipment to support the delivery of the courses. The East Midlands New Technology Initiative (NTI) has recently informed all the applicants of the outcomes.

The funding has been provided by emda under their Catapulting Kids Further! initiative. Only curriculum which corresponds with the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) priority sectors is supported by the Delegated Grant Fund, namely:

- Transport Equipment (including engineering, manufacturing)
- Construction & the Built Environment (including construction, low carbon economy, engineering, manufacture)
- Healthcare & Bioscience (including health care)
- Food & Drink (including engineering, manufacturing)
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM

The grants are intended to provide equipment that will both excite and stimulate interest in the subject area, complement existing capital infrastructure, and support work-based/ applied learning. The new funding is now available to both schools and small to medium sized enterprises (large in exceptional circumstances only.
